In the colourful journey of life, art is like that one friend who’s always there, ready to listen, inspire, and occasionally challenge you. My latest canvas, “Faithful Friend”, based on a Celtic knot design, embodies this notion—a design that twists and turns, much like life itself. And just like any good friendship, there is an immense joy to be found in nurturing something beautiful over time.
Selecting the Perfect Palette
I often find choosing colours a headache. After trying out every colour palette under the sun, I finally settled on shades of blues and greens. The hues felt calming and grounding, inspired by the beautiful countryside of Northern Ireland. Blue, with its depth and tranquillity, and green, the colour of growth and renewal, perfectly captured the spirit of the Celtic knot design I was working on.
The Celtic Knot: A Symbol of Connection
The Celtic knot is a symbol of eternity and interconnectedness. As I lay down the design onto my canvas with wood glue (in a well-ventilated room!), I found myself mesmerised by the loops and curves travelling over and under one another—it reminded me of the paths we cross, and the twists and turns of our life journeys. Life, like art, isn’t always about straight lines or easy answers but the connections you make along the way, make the effort worthwhile!
